Hip Conditions We Treat
Do You Experience Hip Pain? Do You Wonder “Why Does My Hip Hurt?”
Your hip is the strongest of your joints, and it takes a lot to hurt it. Because of fractures, overuse, and degenerative conditions, it's also the most replaced joint.
In the case of a non-traumatic hip condition, it's hard to know that something's wrong right away. It's only after pain and limitations start that you might realize what is happening.
This leads to worry that hip pain will dominate your life and that you might not recover. But even then, you may not believe that surgery is your best option.
Brian's Journey to Better Hip Mobility
Here, Brian carries out an exercise developed specifically for him and his requirements. While the main goal is to mobilize his hip joint, his entire body is involved. This holistic approach also trains balance and coordination.
After only 2 months, Brian had regained a lot of mobility, coordination, and balance. Varied and challenging exercises on the treadmill prepare the patient for his daily activities, without strain and boredom.
Just a week before his hip replacement surgery, Brian is able to carry out complex movement patterns quickly, controlled, and painless.
"Well, I had a few problems: One, I couldn’t sit for any length of time, I was in a lot of pain. And when I’d get up from a seating position, it would take me anywhere between 5 to 10 minutes. I could drive my car, but it would take me anywhere between 15 to 30 minutes to get out of my car. The regular physiotherapy that I had up until that time wasn’t solving any of my problems and a friend suggested I’d come to Platypus METT. It was a slow, gradual process - but eventually my mobility and flexibility improved and I had less and less pain. It was certainly not something that I was getting at any other health provider."

Hip Pain Relief With Platypus METT
Your clinical assessment at Platypus METT will take previous diagnostic results into consideration. Additionally, specific tests will go deeper in mapping your hip’s functional state. Sometimes we find that despite indications to the contrary, the hip joint itself is not the actual cause of your hip pain.
Our treatments result in effective pain relief and improved mobility. For some clients it is possible to postpone hip surgery, or cancel it all together!
Worried About Hip Replacement Surgery?
Hip replacement surgeries are less problematic than other joint replacements. Still, they are major procedures. By engaging in the Platypus METT method, you are not just not suffering while you wait, you reduce pain and will be in the best condition possible when the day of surgery arrives.
